Haddonstone – the UK’s leading manufacturer
of garden ornaments and architectural cast stonework –
has agreed settlements with Homebase regarding the alleged
copying of five Haddonstone designs.
These settlements concluded two separate disputes, one
relating to Haddonstone’s Lotus Flower Pebble Bowl
Fountain, the other relating to items from Haddonstone’s
Contemporary Collection of planters – Cube, Highland
Trough, Hoop and Meander.
As part of the settlements, without admitting liability,
Homebase paid a total of £20,000 as a contribution
towards Haddonstone’s legal costs and have agreed
not to source any further stock.
Simon Scott, Haddonstone’s Marketing Director commented:
“Haddonstone always aggressively protects its registered
designs, trade marks and copyrights. Design-lead UK manufacturing
companies like Haddonstone, who create unique products
for sale around the world, can only survive by constant
innovation and by constant vigilance to ensure that expensive
product development is not wasted.”
